The Self Employed Tax Credit is a financial aid for self-employed people and small business owners who have faced challenges due to events like the COVID-19 pandemic or COVID related circumstances. Covid Relief for the Self Employed covers freelancers, independent contractors, and other self-employed workers who might have missed days of work, had to change their operations around due to quarantining, or had to isolate themselves for a period of time. The self employed tax credits help pay for the time you had to take off because of these challenges.

To get FFCRA Credits, self-employed people get refundable tax credits by claiming sick leave credit for Covid Relief. There are some rules small business owners have to follow. For example, the Covid Relief for self employed paid sick leave is for those who cannot work (even from home) because they are under a federal, state, or local quarantine or isolation order due to COVID-19, they are told by a doctor to self-quarantine due to COVID-19, or they have COVID-19-related symptoms and are looking for a medical diagnosis, like a cold or a flu. If they meet these conditions, they can get qualified sick leave pay for each day of the year that they could not work (up to 10 days per year, 2020 and 2021). The tax credit is $511 covid pay for the self employed.

Also, under the extended FFCRA Reimbursement the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), are self-employed people and 1099 workers can get qualified family leave and self employed refundable tax credits for each day that they could not work because they were taking care of someone else affected by COVID-19 (up to 10 days in 2020, and 10 days in 2021), or for each day that they could not work. You may also receive self employed child tax credits because their child’s school or child care provider was shut down or not available due to COVID-19 (up to 50 days in 2020, or 60 days in 2021). In this situation, they can claim self employed child tax credits due to Covid and receive  $211 per day or 67% of their daily average self-employment income for the year per day.
